I have created a new series of abstract figurative work called "On the Road." They begin with drawings on the iPad. These sketches are combined with various materials including encaustic, photos and drawings. They were initiated while traveling on trains, planes and subways, during various travels to interesting and unique places. They represent an immediate visceral response and reflect my emotional reaction to these experiences. They are printed in various sizes and are combined into families of images mounted on board . My paintings are created by arranging my iPad drawings into a grid, which further emphasizes the relationships between each piece and creates a cohesive final product. This grid structure adds a layer of organization to the abstract and spontaneous nature of my digital drawings, resulting in a harmonious balance between chaos and control in my work.
My art is a reflection of my travels and experiences, as I use my iPad to spontaneously capture the world around me in abstract drawings. The main Cathedral in Alta Bergamo, Italy is the Cattedrale di Santa Maria Maggiore.
While visiting Alta Bergamo, I had the opportunity to enter a magnificent cathedral, known as the Duomo. Inside, I was struck by the various statues and religious artwork. The Christ in the center was very moving and sad. Upon leaving, I was inspired to capture the beauty and grandeur of the building. I found a quiet spot outside and painted my impressions of the Duomo. The painting reflects the awe-inspiring architecture, the intricate details and the serene atmosphere of the cathedral. It is a visual representation of my spiritual and artistic journey, and a tribute to the beauty and history of the Alta Bergamo Duomo.

I was fortunate to visit a Hopi mesa and meet a carver named Kerry David and he talked to my family about the Hopi culture. I witnessed a traditional dance ceremony. The intricate movement and gestures of the dancer, combined with the vivid colors of their costume and the spiritual significance of the dance, left a profound impression on me. In this painting, I wanted to capture the essence of that experience, the energy and spirit of the Hopi dancer. Using bold, fluid lines and a no color palette, I created an abstract representation of a dancer, one that conveys the energy, grace, and strength of the performance. This piece is a celebration of cultural tradition and the power of movement and gesture to convey deep spiritual meaning.

I have tried to figure out why this image of an Egyptian woman witch cut arms came to be and is encircled and almost womb like. This paintings development was very spontaneous. Figure 12 above is a close up this.
I believe, the presence of bleeding arms in the painting can add a layer of complexity to its interpretation. The bleeding arms could represent the physical and emotional pain that the woman in the painting, and by extension, the person viewing the painting, is experiencing. It can symbolize the difficulties and hardships that one is going through and the toll that they can take on the body and soul.
In the context of my personal experience, the bleeding arms in the painting may serve as a powerful reminder of the pain and difficulties I am are facing and the courage it takes to endure them. I had someone close who ,at the time was harming themself. The image of the Egyptian woman in a timeless frontal position, despite the bleeding arms, can represent the idea that even in the midst of struggle and suffering, one can maintain their strength, resilience, and dignity.

Creating this drawing of George, my beloved King Charles Cavalier dog, was a spontaneous act born out of my grief after his passing.
