One subject that has particularly captured my attention is the humble cloud. To me, clouds represent the constant state of transformation that is a part of life. In my paintings of clouds, I seek to capture the fleeting and ephemeral quality of these natural formations. The way they shift and change in the sky is a metaphor for the way that life is always in motion, always changing and evolving. Through the use of color, form, and composition, I aim to convey the sense of movement and transformation that is at the heart of my work. It is a joyful representation of my experience watching the sailboats navigate the water. The bright and happy mood is depicted through the use of vibrant colors and dynamic brushstrokes, creating a playful and lighthearted atmosphere. The painting is a digital interpretation of a fleeting moment, a visual reminder of a joyful day spent on the water. This an statement about this particular series “ On the Road” this is no. 1 I have created a new series of abstract figurative work called "On the Road." They begin with drawings on the iPad. These sketches are combined with various materials including encaustic, photos and drawings. They were initiated while traveling on trains, planes and subways, during various travels to interesting and unique places. They represent an immediate visceral response and reflect my emotional reaction to these experiences. They are printed in various sizes and are combined into families of images mounted on board . My paintings are created by arranging my iPad drawings into a grid, which further emphasizes the relationships between each piece and creates a cohesive final product. This grid structure adds a layer of organization to the abstract and spontaneous nature of my digital drawings, resulting in a harmonious balance between chaos and control in my work. My art is a reflection of my travels and experiences, as I use my iPad to spontaneously capture the world around me in abstract drawings. These drawings are a playful and childlike expression of my surroundings, and when printed and combined with mixed media, including encaustic paint, they come to life as vibrant and textured paintings. My work explores the intersection of technology, abstraction, and materiality, and I am constantly inspired by the world around me to create pieces that are unique and full of vitality. The versatility of my art lies in the fact that my digital drawings can be printed in various sizes, allowing me to create paintings of varying dimensions. This flexibility not only opens up new possibilities for how my work can be displayed, but it also enables me to bring my abstract, spontaneous expressions to a wider audience and make them accessible in different spaces and settings. I am a 69-year-old working artist driven by my passion to create. Despite my age, I wake up every day with a fire to discover yet a greater awareness of mortality. Because of my fascination with what is "Beyond Here" I began working with my abstract conception of celestial landscapes. I have tried to integrate the boundaries between "here and there.” I have been interested in exploring different ideas of what is "Beyond Here" both in science-based theories and religious philosophies. I found this search, both in the flow of the painting process, and the research during it, to be soothing and spiritually gratifying for me. Naturally, with this painting being conceived during Covid isolation when many lives were lost to the pandemic, I was even more consciously motivated to explore these concepts and felt grateful to have had the opportunity to do so. This painting grew layer by layer. I sought to visually create through multilayered space the feeling of the vastness of the universe, infinity, the miracle of creation, and how we connect to the celestial landscape when we are no longer here in our present form.
